Sony releases new HD images from their upcoming film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, that depict Doctor Strange teaming up with Peter Parker.

Sony has released new HD images of Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) alliance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, coinciding with the release of the film’s trailer which debuted earlier today. Although the duo frequently collaborate in the comics, No Way Home marks the first time the two will work together as a pair outside of a group setting (as depicted in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame). The trailer promises a playful camaraderie between the two classic superheroes ripped straight from the pages of Marvel Comics.

Marvel has been extremely tightlipped about the plot of No Way Home – so much so that there is very little officially announced about the story from the studio itself. However, over the past year, leaked images and plot details have steadily dripped from the film’s production such that most diehard fans have already been able to piece together a rough outline of No Way Home’s major narrative beats. Doctor Strange’s involvement in the film was among the earlier wave of scoops, and now fans finally have an opportunity to get a look at the Sorcerer Supreme in glorious high-definition.

Sony has released HD images that give a better look at the two fan-favorite heroes. The first shows Strange as he casts a spell that will erase Spider-Man’s secret identity from the memories of all those who learned Peter Parker’s name during the post-credit sequence of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The second image shows Strange pushing Peter’s soul into the astral dimension, an iconic maneuver that first appeared in Strange’s origin film. Check out the images below:

Marvel is clearly taking heavy inspiration from the controversial comic storyline, “One More Day,” where Mr. Fantastic, Iron Man, and Doctor Strange team-up to invent a “psychic blindspot” that prevents anyone from uncovering Spider-Man’s secret identity. However, in typical MCU fashion, No Way Home’s storyline seems to streamline things so that Strange is the only one involved in the spell. Hopefully the film is able to stick the landing where the comics stumbled.

It’s vindicating to finally see images of Doctor Strange and Spider-Man together after so many months of unverified rumors and speculation. Their partnership will no doubt prove to be a fun one to watch unfold given the multiversal nature of No Way Home‘s story. As the MCU continues to ramp up the stakes with multiversal villains on the rise, fans can reasonably expect to see the Sorcerer Supreme pop up in other MCU projects outside of his own franchise.
