Almost a year to the day of its epic premiere, the directors from last year’s super-successful Avengers: Endgame reveal their all-time favorite scene from the film. Avengers: Endgame was the highly anticipated followup in the MCU’s Avengers franchise following the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The film was an epic tale that found some of the MCU’s favorite characters approaching an impending battle with power-crazed villain Thanos as he continued wreaking havoc with his supernatural weapon of choice, the Infinity Gauntlet.

Of course, the events that took place during Endgame alleviated fans’ fears following the ending of Infinity War, which dropped jaws once the end credits rolled, leaving everyone wondering exactly how Marvel would tie up loose ends in the series’ finale. Endgame met, and in some cases exceeded, fan expectations by wrapping up several plotlines that were left dangling throughout the MCU’s history. The movie also wrapped up several major character arcs such as Tony Stark, Black Widow, and Captain America.

Although Endgame was a huge success, it was hard to tell which scene was the best. There were many scenes to choose from, including Black Widow’s sacrifice, the collective clap back against Thanos’ tyranny, and, of course, the moment when Tony Stark broke all our hearts by sacrificing himself to save the universe. In a Twitter post from Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo, they revealed which was their favorite scene from the entire movie. And many were left in nostalgic awe thinking about the moment that solidified Endgame as one of the most touching in the franchise’s history. “That long crane shot to find Cap and Peggy in the window… our favorite shot in the movie,” the brothers tweeted, adding, “#AvengersAssemble.”

After the Russo brothers’ revelation, the consensus became unanimous among fans who agreed with their cinematic choice. Especially since those who have followed the MCU’s format realize that the reunion of Chris Evans’ Captain America with his lady love Peggy was a moment filled with so many emotions. And since this film was set to usher out one era of Marvel’s iteration into the next, it was only fitting that a character as embattled as Captain America should finally get a happy ending of his own.

Knowing that this was the Russo brothers’ favorite scene caused Twitter to explode with commentary, some upset that they would choose such a saccharine moment to claim as their favorite, but luckily, the majority of moviegoers agreed that this was their favorite  Avengers: Endgame scene as well.
