Writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, have revealed an epic behind-the-scenes shot of Benedict Cumberbatch donning Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit that went unused in the final cut of Avengers: Infinity War.
The duo held a watch party for the film on its second anniversary on Sunday night on ComicBook.com’s Twitter and unveiled the image. With a green screen in the back and Robert Downey Jr. next to him, a weary-looking Cumberbatch is seen sporting the Mark 50 armor.
“So, there were other versions of this rescue,” they tweeted. “Some were just too awesome (and long) to keep. But still, one can dream… #Infinitywar #QuarantineWatchParty.” Concept art previously surfaced showing Strange in the suit and Stark wearing the Sorcerer Supreme’s garb, with artist Phil Saunders also posting images of Cumberbatch as “Iron Strange” attacking Ebony Maw.
Apparently, Stark lent Strange his suit to protect the Eye of Agamotto and facilitate a rescue aboard Maw’s ship in the first act, which was shot but never made it into the film’s final cut. Now, we have evidence of how the shot could have looked, which already has fans begging the writers to reveal a peek at Stark with Cloak of Levitation — something Kevin Smith confirmed was shot as well.
