Hugh Jackman keeps his friendly feud with Ryan Reynolds light by joking that Reynolds started a petition to get him to reprise his role in Wolverine. This news comes off the heels of the revelation that Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson is the apparent reason behind their feud, but since that was so long ago, will it ever send? Because these two have been going back and forth with each other in a series of epic trolling that continually keeps their fans entertained with laughter.

Many have been following their feud since it began after Reynolds and Jackman appeared together in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and it should come as no surprise that there’s no bad blood between them. However, at this point, their series of back and forth good humor is something fans now anticipate from the actors behind two of Marvel Comics’ most beloved characters. And this particular feud has created many remarkable moments of inappropriateness ranging from the time Reynolds sent Jackman an expletive-filled birthday message online to the time they attempted to squash their feud only to start again a few months later.

But now, in an interview during The Late Late Show with James Corden, courtesy of YouTube, the subject of their constant ribbing came into play. And although Johnasson has been blamed for bringing this hilarious feud into our lives, Jackman says otherwise. When Corden asked who began their ongoing epic battle Jackman was quick to point the finger at Reynolds, mentioning a petition he began to get Jackman to come back to the role of Wolverine.

Who started it? Ryan started it. Insatiable  need for attention. And it started with him calling me out. And starting an online petition to get me to come back for Wolverine. And, like, I’ve known Ryan for years I’m like ‘Dude just private me, let’s back it up. Let’s just back this up and he just won’t let go. He’s like a dog with a bone. So we just keep going and going.”

Of course, Jackman is merely joking about Reynolds circulating his own petition, but fans of the Wolverine franchise will recall their only onscreen pairing didn’t fare so well with critics or the public. In response, those who love both characters have started their own petitions to get a second shot at seeing the two powerhouse performers take each other on in another epic battle; however, Jackman has already let it be known that he and Wolverine are done for good. And as far as Reynolds is concerned, Jackman ended by referring to him as “Gum on my shoe, basically. I mean, I say that in the nicest way possible.”

Jackman and Reynolds may never reprise their roles together onscreen, which is a crushing blow to fans of both franchises. However, as long as their teasing continues, fans can look forward to them entertaining us for many years to come with a barrage of verbal blows and pranks. And it’s nice to see two major motion picture stars playfully trading jabs at one another in one of the funniest friendly fire sessions that’s ever graced social media.
