Marvel Cinematic Universe star Tom Holland wears part of Peter Parker’s homemade Spider-Man costume from Spider-Man: Homecoming while in quarantine. Holland joined Marvel Studios’ massive movie franchise in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, in which Peter Parker received an upgraded superhero suit courtesy of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Though fans got to see Spider-Man’s homemade suit briefly, Spider-Man: Homecoming featured Peter Parker’s original costume more when Stark took the upgraded tech away. Without the Stark suit, Peter has to go back to wearing his homemade Spider-Man costume to battle the Vulture (Michael Keaton) in the third act.

Since Civil War and Homecoming, Spider-Man has received a few new suits in the MCU. Peter Parker got a new Stark upgrade in Avengers: Infinity War, the Iron Spider costume, which he also wore in Avengers: Endgame. Then in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Nick Fury gave Peter an all-black stealth suit in an effort to hide the fact that Spider-Man was operating in Europe at the same time Peter was visiting with his classmates. By the end of the film, he’d gotten another Stark upgrade, one he created himself in Tony’s mobile workshop. The black and red Spider-Man costume is Peter’s most recent and will likely be what Holland wears in the MCU’s upcoming Spider-Man 3. But in a recent interview from quarantine, Holland put on a throwback to his Homecoming costume.

Holland appeared on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which has been filming from home while Hollywood and folks around the world are self-isolating to slow the spread of COVID-19. Holland joined via video call from his home in London, and later in the interview, Kimmel asked the Marvel actor to wish his son, Billy Kimmel, a happy birthday since the boy is a big Spider-Man fan. Holland gets fully into the role of Spider-Man, donning a sweatshirt, face mask, sunglasses and gloves in an improvised version of Peter Parker’s homemade suit – the actor even slips into his American accent. Check out the segment in the video below, beginning at the 5:58 mark.

Although Holland doesn’t wear his full Spider-Man costume (which is no doubt being kept safe by Marvel Studios), it’s fun to see the actor put together his own version of the homemade suit. Using sunglasses as improvised goggles is an excellent choice, giving Holland’s homemade Spider-Man costume an even more laid back attitude. As Holland mentions in the interview, he has little trouble slipping into the role of Peter Parking, having played the character in five movies over the last five years. He’s quickly become the most prolific live-action Spider-Man actor, and a favorite in the role.

Holland’s brief return as Spider-Man on Jimmy Kimmel Live! may not be akin to another MCU movie, but it will have to tide fans over for now. Although the Spider-Man 3 release date wasn’t delayed alongside all of Marvel Studios’ upcoming movies, that’s largely because Sony Pictures will distribute the film and hasn’t moved the date (yet). Holland did say he’s unsure when Spider-Man 3 will start filming now that isolation measures are lasting longer than Hollywood executives hoped. As of now, Holland’s Spider-Man is scheduled to return to theaters next summer, but fans will have to wait and see if that changes. Until then, Spidey fans can enjoy Holland’s own homemade suit and rewatch Spider-Man: Homecoming in isolation.
